The Lesbian Avengers was a direct action group formed in 1992 in New York City, uniting people identifying as lesbian in activism for their rights.
We'll be screening their 55 minute documentary LESBIAN AVENGERS EAT FIRE TOO that chronicals a year in the life of the group and follows their recruitment and their humoristic, over the top and dedicated actions.
In the spirit of the Avengers, we've invited mutual aid groups to attend to share about their missions, actions and how attendees can get involved. Tabling with us will be volunteers from Liberate Ward 46, Chicago Democratic Socialists of America, Market Box, Chicago Community Jail Support & Edgewater Mutual Aid Network.
Doors at 6pm with a one hour happy hour before our film screening begins at 7pm. Dorothy remains open after the film for mutual aid meet and greets, connection with fellow attendees and of course, cocktails - last call at 11pm.
Dorothy is 21+ and requires physical ID for all to enter. Dorothy is also ADA accessible with elevator access on Campbell Ave. If you are a guest who requires elevator access, please wait by the black door on Campbell Ave with our logo in the window and call our staff to assist: 773-700-3799
